Community Garden
The Community Garden serves as a place of peace and refuge. The project was designed for inter-generational and community use. This mixes seniors, adults, and youth all working together to create a masterpiece. There is a collaboration between the Dakota Center, Montgomery County's Five Rivers Metro Park, The MacFarlane Neighborhood Association, and local participants.
The produce generated from the community garden is donated back to the community residents through the Dakota Center.
Art
The artistry displayed within the garden has been created through a collaboration with the Dakota Center and local artists. The first art murals were revealed during the "Community Garden Dedication" in 2004.
"Children's Reading Corner"
In 2007 during United Way's "Community Care Day", the Dakota Center unveiled the "Children's Reading Corner". This consists of four beautiful, wooden, benches in a serene corner of the Community Garden.
