Frequently Asked Questions about Dakota Center
Q: Why is it called the Dakota Center?
A: The name comes from our original location on Dakota Street over 40 years ago. We are now located at 33 Barnett Street in Dayton, OH.
Q: Is Dakota Center a Roman Catholic institution?
A: No, it is a nondenominational community center serving Dayton Area neighborhoods. The original founders were active in Catholic social justice movement issues, plus neighborhood leaders of all faiths. We are supported partially by Marianists who are interested in community education and development.
Q: What sources of income support your operations?
A: The Dakota Center is funded in a variety of ways. We have several endowments. The income from these requires restricted use.
